Mountain Lion P-55 Makes History Crossing Freeway Twice

SANTA MONICA — A 2-year-old mountain lion, known as P-55, made history last week when he successfully crossed the 101 Ventura Freeway for the second time. On Tuesday, October 17, the National Park Service announced that P-55 ventured over 10 lanes of freeway traffic, crossing through a “relatively developed part of Thousand Oaks,” just west of State Route 23.

GRIFFITH PARK — California nanny Caroline Maurer is recovering from multiple injuries sustained after being struck by a car. Maurer saved her employer’s 2-year-old son from an oncoming vehicle that ran a stop sign in the Atwater Village neighborhood near Griffith Park on Monday, October 16, at about 10:00 a.m.

Driver in Custody After High-Speed Police Chase

SHERMAN OAKS — The driver of a stolen Ram 1500 led California Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed pursuit through the San Fernando Valley on Monday, October 23. Officials stated that the chase began after authorities attempted to pull the driver over for speeding and reckless driving in the West Los Angeles area around 1:48 p.m.

Grand Theft Suspect Caught on Video

BEVERLY HILLS — Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division are asking the public for help identifying a grand theft suspect caught stealing on video inside a Whole Foods grocery store in the Mid-Wilshire area over the weekend. According to the LAPD Blog, the targeted victims were female shoppers who had placed their purses in shopping carts while browsing.

City Council voted to decriminalize street vending, aiming to protect the immigrant population by eliminating criminal charges that could lead to deportation for unauthorized vendors. According to the Los Angeles Times, street vending previously carried misdemeanor charges that, under President Trump’s deportation order, put undocumented immigrants at risk — even without a court conviction.
